JEE Advanced 2018: Joint Admission Board released supplementary merit list; choice filling for admission will start today

The Joint Admission Board (JAB) has released the extended list or the supplementary list for those candidates who are waiting for taking the admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) on 14th June 2018.

On the same day, JAB has also announced the extended list of the qualified students now stands at 31,980 from the existing 18,138. After releasing the list, now more students have become eligible for taking the admissions to the IIT. The decision of releasing the extended list has been taken on the direction given by the Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry to the IIT JAB. HRD directed to release the supplementary merit list for JEE Advanced 2018.

Selected candidates can fill their choice on Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA_ from today (15th June) onwards. In the extended merit list, students can fill up their options along with others.

 

According to the letter issued by the ministry, 'It is the policy of the government of India that all reservation category seats in all disciplines are filled and no vacant seats are left after counselling for admission in IITs.'

HRD ministry has given direction in this regard on 13th June 2018. The merit list has to be released before students who passed JEE Advanced 2018 start selecting disciplines.

According to the IIT data, there were total 1,55,158 students had appeared for the exam and out of the total, only 18,138 candidates had qualified for the JEE exam.
