Uri Brigade Commander transferred; will be replaced by Brigadier S P Ahalawat: Reports

The Indian Army on 1 October transferred the Uri Brigade commander. This follows the 18 September terror attack, which claimed the lives of 19 Army men and left 20 critically injured.

Brigadier Uma Shanker of Uri Brigade was ordered by the army to shift early this week, following the attack.

Colonel GS of Kilo Force, SP Ahalawat, who was recently promoted as Brigadier took over as new Brigade commander of Uri brigade today.

According to reports, until the process of handing over charge to the new Brigade commander is completed, Brigadier Uma Shanker will be stationed at Uri Brigade.

Meanwhile, Army Chief General Dalbir Singh will visit the Army's Northern Command in Jammu and Kashmir today to review the security situation after the surgical strikes on terror launch pads across the LoC.

General Singh is expected to arrive at the Northern Command headquarters in Udhampur this morning and will review the security and border situation in the state.
