UP Shocker: AMU student stabs father, mother to death with scissors, arrested

A 24-year-old man was arrested for allegedly torturing and killing his parents at their residence in Zakirnagar on the night of March 29. The accused was identified as Ghulamuddin, a B.Com student at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

According to the police, Ghulamuddin first attacked his 60-year-old father with scissors and then then his 57-year-old mother Shehzadi Begum. When the parents screamed for help, the accused locked the room from inside, to restricting his siblings from entering, and continued to stab his parents with the scissors. Both the elderly died on the spot. The 24-year-old accused used to sleep with his parents in the same room.

Ghulamuddin told police that he committed the crime to save himself.

“We have recovered the murder weapons. We are trying to ascertain the reason for which he killed his parents but he told us that he feared that his parents would kill him and committed the crime to save himself. A forensic team is also collecting evidence,” said Aligarh Senior Superintendent of Police Kalanidhi Naithani

The deceased parent’s eldest daughter registered a complaint against her brother at the Quarsi police station in Aligarh.

Police stated that the autopsy report revealed that both the elderlies were stabbed multiple times with scissors and tortured with a steam iron.

Police produced the accused man in a local court on March 30, which sent him to a judicial custody.

Further investigation is underway.
