After devastating defeats in the Assembly election in four major states, General Secretary of the Indian National Congress party's All India Congress Committee, Digvijay Singh took a swipe at the Congress leadership with a controversial tweet.
In his tweet, he said that that the results were disappointing but not unexpected and that the party has done enough of introspection, and now, it should go for a major 'surgery' hinting towards an earlier statement by Congress party president Sonia Gandhi promising introspection.
He tweeted, "Today's results disappointing but not unexpected. We have done enough Introspection shouldn't we go for a Major Surgery ?".

In an interview with India Today after the election results', the Rajya Sabha member said that things could have been very different had the DMK-Congress alliance in Tamil Nadu and Left-Congress alliance in West Bengal been made earlier and not just before polls.
Singh also said that if there is any shuffling in the top leadership of the party it would have his support, probably expressing his dissatisfaction with party vice president Rahul Gandhi.
While talking about Congress, he said that it is only the Congress party that he could think of which would never compromise with BJP.
"Politics doesn't mean power, politics means to serve the people," he added.
