Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2018: Rahul Gandhi-led Congress party releases first list of 152 candidates; Sachin Pilot to contest for the first time

Rajasthan assembly elections will soon to begin in the state and amid, Congress party has released party’s first list of 152 candidates for the state assembly elections on Thursday night.

In the first list, former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot and state Congress Sachin Pilot figured in the party list.


Ashok Gehlot will contest from his constituency in Jodhpur’s Sadarpura while Pilot will from Tonk. The other senior leader of Congress whose names are also in the list are former Union minister CP Joshi from Nathdwara (Udaipur), and Girija Vyas from Udaipur, and leader of opposition Rameshwar Dudi from Nokha (Bikaner).

Pilot, who become a twice member of parliament from Dausa (2004) and Ajmer (2009), will be contesting assembly election for the first time. On the other hand, two-time CM Gehlot will be contesting for the fifth time from Sardarpura assembly constituency.

The first list released by Congress includes 18 women and around 64 new faces have been introduced to the list. The party has also denied the ticket to two sitting MLA - Ghanshyam Mehr from Toda Bhim and Narayan Singh from Dataramgarh, while his son Virendra Choudhary has been given a ticket.

After a six-hour-long meeting of CEC chaired by Congress president Rahul Gandhi has released the list of 152 candidates. The meeting was started at around 4 pm which got concluded at 10 pm.
