Raj Thackeray's MNS threatens Pakistani artistes to leave India within 48 hours

A Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS)-affiliate on 23 September has set a 48-hour deadline for all Pakistani actors and artists working in India to leave the country immediately.

"We gave a 48 hour deadline to Pakistani actors and artists to leave India or MNS will push them out," said Amey Khopkar, MNS Chitrapat Sena, reported Indian Express.

This development came amid increasing tensions between India and Pakistan after terrorists killed 18 army personnel at an Army camp in Uri, Kashmir.

India blamed Pakistan for the attack as investigations revealed weapons and ammunition bearing Pakistani insignia from the site.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack and said firm action will be taken against those responsible.

It is not the first time that political parties have threatened Paksitani artists to leave India. In the past, the Shiv Sena forced noted ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali to cancel his performance in Mumbai.
