The power-tussle between Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Congress leader Sachin Pilot is intensifying in the elections year. Pilot on January 23 launched an indirect attack on CM Gehlot by saying that people cling to positions even after back-to-back failures.

The former deputy chief minister was talking about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi that how he set an example in the grand old party by refusing the top post after losing the 2019 elections. He stated that everyone wants him to continue as Congress chief but he took the responsibility of the loss and resigned from the party president post.

Out of nowhere he said that there are some people who continue to hold on to positions even marking back to back failures.

“In 2019, when Cong lost the polls, Rahul Gandhi resigned & refused to become the Congress chief again, though we wanted him to be. He set an example. But on the other hand, there are few people who cling to positions even though they fail back-to-back,” Pilot said.

The ‘cold war’ between Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot has been going on since December 2018 when Congress formed the government in Rajasthan.

Earlier this month, Pilot questioned CM Gehlot-led Government regarding the recent teachers’ recruitment exam. He asked how the questions papers, that was kept in the vault, reached candidates without the complicity of officials. “Was it magic or something else?” Pilot said.

"It's unfortunate when exam paper is leaked repeatedly. I welcome action taken against perpetrators. It's being said no leader or official was involved in it but paper is kept in locker despite that it reached students...this is 'Jaadugiri'," Pilot said.

It is pertinent to mention that Ashok Gehlot is known as 'Jadugar' in Rajasthan.

After this jibe, CM Gehlot heard saying that a ‘big corona’ has entered in the after the pandemic. It is believed that the Chief Minister allegedly linked Pilot with Covid-19.

"I have started meeting...earlier corona came...a big corona also entered our party." CM Gehlot said while responding to a participant in the state pre-budget meeting.

Rahul Gandhi, during his Rajasthan visit, reacted on Gehlot-Pilot tussle and said that differences in views were not an issue until it causes major damage.
