
Country’s one of the famous poet and lyricist Gopaldas ‘Neeraj’ has passed away on Thursday (19th July 2018) at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). On 18th July, the poet fell at his home in Agra and had some serious head injuries due to which his health become serious and a day after he has left us.
Gopaldas was the renowned poet and his poetry has taken the poetry world on another level for which he also received the third highest civilian honour award Padma Bhushan.
As per the reports of HT, ‘ Padma Bhushan recipient was shifted to the trauma centre on last night in a critical condition. He had kidney failure, infection all over his body and head injuries’, said Dr Rajesh Malhotra, chief of the AIIMS trauma centre.
PM Narendra Modi has also poured condolence over the death.

The poet has also given his contribution to the Bollywood industry as well. He wrote several hit songs for the B-town film in the era of 60s and 70s that had made him the super lyricist of his time. Some of his popular songs that still can’t be forgotten and become the songs of all time are Ae Bhai Zara Dekh Ke (Mera Naam Joker), Likhe Jo Khat Tujhe (Kanyadan), Bas Yehi Apradh Main Har Baar (Pehchan).
He was born on 4th July 1925 in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah. He has three sons and a daughter. His daughter Kundanika Sharma said the family would go to Aligarh to fulfil the last wish of Neeraj i.e. donate his body.
