‘Nobody has right to make such remarks’: Fadnavis on IFFI jury chief’s comment on ‘The Kashmir Files’
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on November 29 reacted on International Film Festival of India (IFFI) jury head Nadav Lapid’s ‘propaganda’ remarks on Vivek Agnihotri's ‘The Kashmir Files’ saying the film is based on facts and detailed research.
He slammed the Lapid by stating that the movie - about the 1990 exodus of Kashmiri Pandits – is approved by India’s censor board and ‘Nobody has the right to make any such remarks about it’.
“Truth was shown in the film ‘The Kashmir Files', it was shown after research was done. India's censor board approved it. Nobody has the right to make any such remarks about the movie,” Fadnavis said.

The Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader has previously praised the movie saying he was left speechless after watching it.
On Sunday, Israeli screenwriter and director Nadav Lapid – who was on the jury chair – called ‘The Kashmir Files’ a ‘vulgar propaganda’ that was ‘inappropriate for an artistic competitive section of such a prestigious film festival’.
“I feel totally comfortable to share these feelings with you on stage since the feeling we felt at this festival can truly accept a critical discussion, which is essential for art and for life,” he had said at the event.
Actor Anupam Kher, BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya were among those to have criticised Lapid for his remarks.
Daniel Carmon, former Israeli ambassador termed Nadav Lapid’s remarks ‘unfortunate’. Israel ambassador Naor Gilon also criticised Israeli screenwriter.

A police complaint has been filed against Nadav Lapid for his controversial remarks.
