The main accused of Kanpur's 8 policemen killing, Vikas Dubey has been arrested from Ujjain temple on Thursday morning.

UP’s most wanted gangster search operation ended at the Mahakal temple, a week after the ambush on a Kanpur police in his village.

As per reports, after being arrested by the MP police, the gangster shouted, “Main Vikas Dubey hun, Kanpur wala (I am Vikas Dubey from Kanpur].”

Reportedly, the police were alerted by the security guards at the Ujjain temple. As policemen walked him towards police, Vikas Dubey screamed again, "Main Vikas Dubey hun, Kanpur wala".

“Vikas Dubey was going to Ujjain Mahakal temple when he was identified by security personnel. Police were informed, he confessed his identity after being pushed for it. He has been apprehended by police & interrogation is underway,” Ashish Singh, Ujjain Collector said.

Earlier on Wednesday, Vikas Dubey was spotted in Faridabad where police caught three of his accomplices.

Vikas Dubey feared being killed in an encounter like his other aides, due to the deployment of police in court, complexes, and Noida. Somehow, he managed to flee from UP and reached MP’s Ujjain, where he let the police know his location, after which Madhya Pradesh arrested him.

A senior MP government official told PTI, “Yes, he has been arrested.” Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra also told reporters that Dubey is in state police custody in Ujjain.

However, history-sheeter Vikas Dubey will be handed over to the Uttar Pradesh police later once a court approves a transit remand. After court gives the police a transit remand, UP gangster will be taken to Kanpur, where he killed 8 policemen.
