Maharashtra Bhushan Award Ceremony: 11 people die from heatstroke

Mumbai: Eleven people died from heatstroke during the Dr. Appasaheb Dharmadhikari Maharashtra Bhushan award ceremony in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, as announced by the Maharashtra Chief Minister's office.

CM announces compensation for victims
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has declared that the families of the deceased Shri members will receive a compensation of five lakh rupees each, and that the entire medical expenses of those who are still receiving treatment will be covered by the state government.


Officials express their condolences
The Maharashtra Chief Minister expressed his grief at the unexpected and painful incident and paid tribute to the deceased. The former Maharashtra Chief Minister, his son, and an NCP leader visited the hospital to take stock of the situation.

Ceremony attended by high-ranking officials
The Maharashtra Bhushan Award ceremony was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, and his deputy Devendra Fadnavis. Amit Shah distributed the awards at the ceremony.
