As Congress is poised to make a comeback in Karnataka and is leading with over 80 seats, party president Mallikarjun Kharge expressed on May 13 that the party has emerged victorious and now they must focus on serving the people of the state. He added that he does not wish to criticize rival parties or any political leaders.

"We have won, and now we have to work. I don't want to criticize anybody," Mallikarjun Kharge stated regarding the party's victory in Karnataka.

When asked about the failure of "Modi magic" in the Karnataka assembly elections, Kharge declined to comment, saying, "I don't want to comment. When the question arises of criticizing in Parliament or the next election, I will do that.

According to early trends, the Congress party is leading with 80 seats and has won 55 seats (as of 3:22 pm) and is expected to form a majority government in Karnataka. The minimum requirement to form a majority government is 113 seats. Meanwhile, the BJP is leading in 43 seats, and the JDS is leading in 10 seats, according to the data shown on Election Commission of India’s website.

Earlier in the day, Congress veteran leader Siddaramaiah stated that the people of the state are fed up with the BJP government and desire a change, emphasizing that it's a significant victory for the Grand Old Party.

Siddaramaiah criticized the BJP, highlighting that despite investing a substantial amount of money in 'Operation Kamala', they failed to secure victory in the state.

He also praised the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, noting that it played a role in connecting the people of the country and motivating party workers.

"It is a big victory for the Congress party. The people of Karnataka wanted a change because they were fed up with the BJP government. The BJP spent a lot of money on 'Operation Kamala'. Rahul ji's Padyatra also played a significant role in inspiring the party cadre," Siddaramaiah stated, as quoted by ANI.

The fiercely contested election, characterized by high-pitched campaigns from the political parties, holds significant importance for both the BJP and the Congress.
