Jawaharlal Nehru Vice-Chancellor Jagadesh Kumar, who faced flak from students and members of faculty for letting in police into the campus, on 15 February called for normalcy.
In a press conference held this afternoon, Kumar said, "I appeal to the entire JNU community, it is our responsibility to bring in normalcy so that we go on with our academic activity".
While emphasising that JNU wasn't against freedom of expression, the VC apprised the media about the formation of an inquiry commission to probe the Afzal Guru event on 9 February held at the university campus.
He also said that the commission would release its report on 25 February.
Meanwhile, JNU students continued their strike demanding the release of JNU Student Union president Kanhaiya Kumar, who was arrested on 12 February on charges of sedition. He will be produced before a Delhi court today.
