Modi web series banned by EC

After a complaint filed by the Congress party regarding the web series on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and its violation of model code, the Election Commission has ordered the maker Eros Now to remove from every digital platform.

The Election Commission, citing the Model Code of Conduct, has said that the airing of the biopic titled, ‘Modi- Journey of a Common Man’ should be stopped with immediate effect.

The poll watchdog in its order has said to Eros Now, “It was brought to our notice that a web series "Modi-Journey of a Common Man, having 5 episodes is available on your platform. You're directed to stop forthwith the online streaming & remove all connected content of the series till further orders.”

The Election Commission had earlier banned the PM Narendra Modi biopic, which has Vivek Oberoi in the lead role and the film was produced by Vivek Oberoi’s father. The Supreme Court had taken a view that Election Commission should watch the film before banning it and submit the review to the apex court.

It’s the bench of the Supreme Court which has eventually decided to take up the matter and the final call upon the PM Narendra Modi’s biopic.

The Election Commission had clearly stated the rules under the Model Code of Conduct and had banned the several biopics in last one month.
