Despite curfew, large crowd attends Burhan Wani's funeral in Tral, J&K

Despite curfew being imposed in several parts of Jammu and Kashmir, large number of people have turned up to attend the funeral of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in Tral on 9 July.

The killing of Burhan, son of a headmaster, was described by the Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police K Rajendra as a major success for security forces, as Burhan was allegedly instrumental in brainwashing several local boys to take up arms.

It is being termed as a major setback to the militancy in J&K.

Clashes have erupted in various of the state with the internet service and rail services being suspended as precautionary measures.

Burhan Wani and 2 other terrorists were killed by security forces in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir on 8 July.
