Delhi Court pronounced 7 years imprisonment to gangster Abu Salem in 2002 extortion case

Delhi court awarded gangster Abu Salem 7 years of jail imprisonment in 2002 extortion case, reports news agency PTI. Delhi's Tis Hazari Court pronounced 7 years jail for demanding Rs 5 crore as protection money from a Delhi-based businessman, to gangster Abu Salem.

According to reports, the court passed the order after hearing arguments on sentence by the prosecution and the defence lawyers. It had convicted Salem in the case on May 26.

In the extortion case lodged in Delhi in 2002, it was alleged that Salem had demanded Rs. 5 crore as security money from businessman Ashok Gupta, a resident of Greater Kailash in south Delhi.
