Coronavirus cases in India: Total positive cases 2,301, 156 cured and 56 dead; check state-wise tally

On Friday morning, the number of positive cases for coronavirus climbed to 2,301 and the death toll increased to 56, as per the report released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

However, Indian is observing the tenth day of a 21-day nationwide lockdown and country is likely at the stage of critical phase after a surge in the total number of positive cases.


According to the data of MHRD, 2088 are active cases, 156 have been cured/discharged, 56 deaths and 1 migrated.

 

The number of deaths has been reported in different states are as follow:

The state where the highest number of death cases have been reported so far is Maharashtra where 13 deaths claimed, followed by Gujarat (7), Madhya Pradesh (6), Karnataka (3), Punjab (4), Delhi (4), Telangana (3), West Bengal (3), Jammu and Kashmir (2), Uttar Pradesh (2) and Kerala (2). While Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, and Himachal Pradesh have reported one each case.

Moreover, the Union Health Ministry officials have claimed that the reason behind skyrocketing numbers mainly due to the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in India amid COVID-19 because more than 350 fresh cases of infected people emerged on Wednesday and rose the tally close to 2,000.

Earlier in Delhi, coronavirus positive cases have risen to 152, including 53 people who attended the Nizamuddin flock. While in Tamil Nadu, 110 people who returned from Tablighi Jamaat meet in Delhi also have tested positive and then the number of cases in the state climbed to 234, the authorities said.
