The Congress party, on 25 November, held a press conference demanding the ruling Bharatiya Janta Party to make public all transactions and property sale-purchase in the last one year by its leaders. The demand comes after Catch News exposed that BJP extensively invested in real estate prior to the 8 November address of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which he declared a ban on high-value currency notes.
"The purchase of land shows how BJP was making white money from its black money. We demand to know from Amitji (Amit Shah) and Modiji (Narendra Modi) from where the money was arranged," Randeep Surjewala, Congress spokesperson said at the press conference.
On 24 November, Catch News had reported that BJP, the ruling party at the Centre, bought several land parcels in Bihar until the first week of November. Modi announced the ban on Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes on 8 November.
