Rajasthan BJP MLA Gyandev Ahuja, who had earlier dubbed the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) as a den of free sex and drugs, has made yet another controversial remark. On 25 May, Ahuja claimed that incidents of rape occur in Jawaharlal Nehru University every day.

He did not stop with that statement on rape. The ANI Twitter page quoted him saying that "Statues of the members of Nehru-Gandhi family should be brought down, then people will spit on them".

Ahuja had earlier claimed that 3,000 used condoms, 500 abortion syringes, 2,000 Indian and foreign liquor bottles, over 10,000 cigarette butts and 4,000 beedis were found on the JNU campus on a daily basis and students "danced naked" in the campus. In an interview with the BBC last year, Ahuja boasted of holding classes on the virtues of the cow and lamented that gau mata wasn't given enough importance in the country.
Ahuja, who became an MLA in 1998, earned the nickname of Lankesh from then chief minister Ashok Gehlot due to his unruly behaviour, after allegedly slapping a cop on duty. Ahuja refused to appear before the police for almost a decade and remained on the list of people wanted by them, reported Firstpost.
