"Protestors had a demand regarding the deferment of the swearing-in ceremony of the chairperson and newly appointed members of the State Public Service Commission. But, they should have respected the law and order," said Chukhu Apa, IGP, law and order, reported ANI.

Security personnel resorted to baton charge upon the protesters to control the situation. They also used tear gas on furious protesters when they started pelting stones at them.

According to IPC Chukhu Apa, as many as four security personnel sustained injuries during the clash. In view of the critical situation, the administration has deployed adequate force in the Itanagar to control any untoward activity.

A 12-hour bandh has also been called by the protesters in the Itanagar over the insufficient probe in the recent paper leak case, reported India Today.

Meanwhile, the Arunachal Pradesh cabinet decided to call off the swearing-in-ceremony of the Chairman and Members of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission.

Candidates who were preparing for the state PSC examination are not happy with the inquiry in the paper leak case and took to street to protest against the state government.

Last month, the Special Investigation Cell (SIC) of the state arrested some government officials for their alleged involvement in the paper leakage that occurred during the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC)'s AE Civil Mains exam in 2022.

As of now, more than 45 people have been arrested in connection with the paper leak case.

Arunachal Government has cleared that no one will be spared if found involved in the APPSC paper leak scam.
