Grammy winner Ricky Kej, refugee singers pay tribute to India’s national anthem [Watch]

In order to celebrate India's 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Grammy award winner Ricky Kej and 12 refugee singers from four nationalities paid tribute to the national anthem. The official Twitter handle of Culture Ministry shared the video that has now gone viral on the internet with more than 272.3k views thus far.

Accompanying Ricky Kej, Aura Rem Mawi, Len Nuam, Victor, Maria, Muanpi, Chan Chan, who are Myanmar refugees in India, also featured in the video. Disanthana (Sri Lankan refugee in India), Odettte (Cameroon refugee in India) and Abdullah, Aqila and Cheyas (Afghan refugees in India) were also part of it.


“Love for India is pouring from around the world! On the occasion of India's 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Grammy Award winner - @rickykej and 12 refugee singers from 4 nationalities pay tribute to the national anthem. Watch their melodious tribute here,” reads the caption of the post.

The official Twitter handle for the UN in India also shared the video with the caption, “We thank you for your kindness, love, and support. For India’s 75th #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav, refugee youth join forces with multi-Grammy Award-winner @rickykej to pay a heartfelt tribute to the Government and people of India.”

“Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav,” Mahindra groups chairman Anand Mahindra said as he shared the video on his Twitter.

 

Ricky Kej bagged his second Grammy in the Best New Age Album category at the 64th Grammy Awards in April. He won the award for the album Divine Tides.
