With Bundelkhand region reeling under drought, a man was reportedly arrested in Mahoba village after he stole water.

According to the police, the accused damaged a valve of a water pipeline and stored water in a pit, using it for agriculture.

According to an NDTV report, the man, Hiralal Yadav, has been accused of damaging the valve of the Urmil Dam and diverting water towards his farmland.

However, Hiralal's family has claimed that the valve was already damaged and that the government was covering its own inefficiency by framing him.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 7 May and apprised him of the drought and water crisis situation in the state.
