Acid attack on Russian girl in Varanasi, admitted in BHU emergency ward

Some unidentified men threw acid at a 23-year-old Russian girl in Varanasi on 13 November. The girl was rushed to the hospital and is admitted in the emergency ward of the Banaras Hindu University.

According to reports, the girl has sustained chemical burns on her face and shoulders but is out of danger. The incident took place at Nand Nagri colony when the girl was on a morning walk.

The victim lives in plot number 37 of the area along with her friend, Siddharth Srivastava. According to Siddharth's father, she used to go for a walk at the Ganga ghat every morning.

According to media reports, the needle of suspicion points to Sidhharth. Police said he has been absconding since the attack.
