On loop: The story behind the catchy tune from the IPL 2016 Fun, Fans, Fantastic promo

The song Pista the Run Anthem is likely to get a new lease of life this IPL season - a whole three years after it topped the charts.

The Indian Premier League, is known to kickstart the campaign with an energetic promo, and this year's edition -titled Fun. Fans. Fantastic - does not disappoint.

The promotional video for the Indian Premier League 2016 is set in an elaborate carnivalesque atmosphere - including floats featuring the star players, a parade and a massive celebration. The busy, colourful and high-on-energy promo is sure to spark some excitement even among non-IPL fans.

The IPL, which has received quite some acclaim already, is set to the foot-tapping song Pistah Suma Kira So Maari Jama Kiraaya. The song, a part of the 2013 Malayalam-Tamil bilingual film, Neram, was an instant hit - and found favour even with audiences who may have missed out on the Alphonse Putharen-directed film starring Nivin Pauly and Nasriya.

The super hit song was composed by Rajesh Murugesan and written by Shabareesh Varma. The hit musical duo's second outing with the Alphonse Putheran-Nivin Pauly combine, Premam, was also a Box Office hit.
