MCA moves Supreme Court in bid to host IPL matches in Maharashtra as per original schedule

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and the Maharashtra Cricket Association filed a joint SLP (Special Leave Petition) in the Supreme Court on Thursday, seeking to host IPL matches post 30 April as per the original schedule.

Due to a severe water crisis in Maharashtra, the Bombay High Court had earlier ordered the BCCI to move IPL matches out of the drought hit state post 30 April, after which alternate venues like Jaipur and Bengaluru were suggested.

The apex court is expected to hear the MCA's plea on Monday, 25 April.

The venues for which permission is sought are Mumbai Indians' home ground, the Wankhede Stadium, and Rising Pune Supergiants' home ground, the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
