Thane Horror: Man barges into 17-year-old girl's house, rapes her

In a shocking development coming in from Maharashtra’s Thane district, a 28-year-old man has been taken into police custody for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl in a village area, police said Friday.

According to an official at the Kulgaon police station, the accused was taken into police custody on Thursday and was charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act).


The victim and the accused are known to eachother as they are neighbours in the locality, he said.

On the day of the crime, 9th November, the accused forced into the girl's abode when she was all by herself, he then latched the door from inside and raped her, the official said.

The accussed also physically assaulted the teenager when she tried to raise an alarm and warned her of grave repercussion if she revealed anything about the crime, he said.

The victim narrated her horrifying ordeal to her mother when she got back home in the evening from work and subsequently a police complaint was registered by the victim’s family members, the official said.

The police registered an FIR and later took the accused into their custody, who has also been charged with criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing hurt, he added.
