In a horrifying incident of crime, a man, who allegedly killed two men sleeping on pavement in Maharashtra’s Mumbai, has told the cops that he murdered the duo in a fit of rage after he was forced to deboard a train in Byculla station after being called a drug addict.

The accused, aged 40, identified as Suresh Shankar Gauda had murdered two men within a time span of 15 minutes by smashing their heads with a heavy stone in Byculla and JJ Marg Police station area on 23rd October. Initially, the police dubbed the killer as 'unstable'.

The two murderous act was captured on CCTV camera whose footages have been recovered by police. In one of the footages, recovered from JJ Marg, the accused could be seen walking a busy footpath and stopped by a sleeping man. The accused then picked up a heavy stone and went to the sleeping man to smash his head.

The pavement dweller was murdered outside the Byculla fruit market. After looking into the footage, police identified the accused as 40-year-old Suresh Shankar Gauda. He was taken into police custody on Sunday from near J J Marg police station.

The city police kept an eye on Gauda after examining his movements through CCTV between Byculla and JJ Marg.

"The accused told us that he had a verbal altercation with co-passengers as he accidentally got into a first-class compartment. The co-passengers abused him, called him a drug addict and forced him to get off at Byculla station,” the report quoted a police officer as saying.

The accused said he took out his anger by killing the two individuals who were sleeping on the pavement.

Furthermore, the accused had told police that he was arrested for allegedly killing another pavement dweller in 2015 in Kurla. However, the court later acquitted him due to dearth of evidence.
