Chhattisgarh Gangrape Case

In a shocking incident reported from Chhattisgarh’s Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur (MCB) district, a 32-year-old health worker was allegedly tied and gang-raped at knifepoint by four people, including a minor boy, police said on Saturday.

The police have taken the 17-year-old accused and two of his accomplices into their custody, while one more accused in the case is still at large.

The incident happened at a sub-health centre in Chhipchhip village panchayat, under Jhagrakhand police station limits, on Friday, said Dipak Saini, Station House Officer (SHO), Jhagrakhand. The woman was alone at the health centre situated on the outskirts of the village when the minor and three of his associates barged in.

Earlier on Saturday, a police complaint was registered by the victim, following which the police swung into action and arrested the accused.

They also allegedly recorded a video of the crime before running away from the spot, the official said.

A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, the Arms Act and the Information Technology Act.
