UP horror: 4 men rape, threaten to kill 55-year-old woman at ashram

In a shocking incident reported from Uttar Pradesh, a 55 year-old woman was gang-raped after being sedated at an ashram in Lucknow's Gomti Nagar.

The shocking incident happpened 13 days back at the Janaki Mandir ashram when the victim went to meet Hanuman Das Mahant on 4th October.


The woman was gang-raped by four men, identified as Durvasa, Chotte Mauni, Bare Mauni and Manmohan Das. In her statement at the police station, the 55 year-old revealed that she reached the ashram in Lucknow with a lady, identified as Geeta she had met in Prayagraj.

On October 4, she got to Lucknow with Geeta to meet Hanuman Das Mahant at Janaki Mandir ashram. While Geeta went back to Varanasi stating that her brother was sick, the victim stayed at the ashram to meet the Mahant.

In her complaint, the woman alleged she was sedated and raped when she became unconscious.

When the victim complained about the incident to Mahant, he threatened to kill her like other victims who had spoken out.

The victim some how managed to flee from the ashram and contact her family. They filed a police complaint against the men who raped the woman at the ashram.

Investigating officer Dinesh Chandra Mishra said that the matter is being looked into at the moment and soon relevant action will be taken.
