Caught on cam, Mumbai man kills wife in broad daylight

In an appalling incident of crime reported from Mumbai’s Chembur district, an estranged husband murdered his wife on her way to work on Thursday. According to reports, the couple tied the knot in 2019 but had split up within a few months following the wedding. Her husband and the accused Akshay also had doubts over his wife's character, saidthe RCF Police.

The 23-year-old victim, identified as Akanksha Khartmol had left for her office in the morning in an auto.rickshaw. Soon after, Akshay followed her auto on his bike, and later attacked her with a sharp edged weapon.


As maintained by Balasaheb Ghawte, Senior Police Inspector, RCF Police Station."Even after separation, Akshay tried to talk to her several times, and also tried to persuade her. However, she did not want to have any kind of relationship with him. She was staying at her maternal home in Mumbai and was also doing a private job".

The accused launched an attack on the victim with a sharp edged weapon on her head, face, and hand and before long ran away.

In the CCTV recording, the accused (Akshay) can be seen getting inside the back of the auto-rickshaw,. During this time, locals can also be seen shielding their children from sharp edged weapons.

Following the horrifying attack, the local people put Akanksha in another auto rickshaw and rushed her to the hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. RCF Police has taken the accused husband into their custody.
