Admonished by woman for not wearing mask, man takes revenge by stalking and molesting her

In a horrifying incident of crime, a man allegedly stalked and molested a woman after she scolded him for not wearing a mask in Kolkata. Reportedly, the accused molested the woman on Tuesday, when the two were in an autorickshaw.

The accused, identified as Pintu Parmanik was taken into custody by vigilant traffic police official named Kaushik Chakraborty and a Jorabagan traffic guard deployed at the Girish Park crossing.


A few weeks ahead of the incident, the accused had followed the woman in the Shyampukur area. The woman, who works at a private company, had held back from registering a police complaint against the accused.

Earlier on Tuesday, the accused allegedly stalked the woman when she came out of her house and continued to pass inappropriate comments while making smutty gestures at her. None of the onlookers interceded in the matter.

According to the Times of India, The woman, who continued walking as the accused was harassing her, took an autorickshaw at Girish Park crossing. The accused also allegedly got inside the autorickshaw and sat on the woman's lap.

At approximately around 12.30 pm, the woman turned to traffic cop Chakraborty for help. The woman pointed her fingers at the accused and being aware of trouble, Chakraborty grabbed him. The woman then told Chakraborty that the accused had been harassing her.

He recalled, "The woman told me that the accused had harassed her with lewd comments and gestures and he had been following her. I informed the control room and handed him over to the cops. "
