Sam Mendes drops out from Disney's live-action 'Pinocchio'

'Skyfall' helmer Sam Mendes is no longer directing Disney's live-action 'Pinocchio' movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 52-year-old director has exited the animation adaption. This is not the first Disney project the Oscar-winning director has dropped. He was previously in talks for the live-action 'James and the Giant Peach' adaption before exiting the movie for Pinocchio.

The film, based on the famous 1940 cartoon, is in works at the Disney with writer Chris Weitz penning the script.

The story revolves around a wooden puppet who dreams of becoming a real boy.

Mendes most recent film was the James Bond installment 'Spectre,' and he is currently directing the West End play 'The Ferryman'.
