
A little over 2.7 lakh candidates will be called for the next stage of Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Non Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) 2016 (Stage 2) exam. Confirming the same, a senior railways officer told Catch, "More than 2.5 lakh candidates will pass the first stage RRB NTPC 2016 exam. The results will be declared in the first fortnight of October." The official also told Catch that 56 lakh candidates appeared for more than 18,000 positions.
Earlier, speaking to Catch Anil Kumar Saxena, Additional Director General (PR) of the Railways Board had said, "The RRB results for NTPC first stage will be declared in the first fortnight of October, that is, early next month."

Going by official figures, an estimated 2,73,780 lakh should be called for RRB NTPC stage 2 or Mains exams. There is a total of 18,252 vacancies for RRB Non-Technical Popular Categories 2016. Candidates equal to 15 times of 18,252 will be called for the second stage exam, which will be based on the merit list.
A total of 56 lakh candidates appeared for the test. Which means that just 4.8% (approximately) will be selected for RRB NPTC stage 2 exam.

RRB NTPC Stage 2 exam
Candidates clearing RRB NTPC stage 1 exam will be called for RRB NTPC stage 2 exam. A Computer Based Test (CBT) test, the exam is held for 90 minutes and candidates need to attempt 120 multiple-choice objective type questions.
Syllabus: Arithmetic, General Awareness, General Intelligence and Reasoning.
