Virat Kohli postpones Indian Sports Honours event in wake of Pulwama terror attack

Nearly 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men were killed and many others injured in a dastardly attack by terrorists when they targeted a 78 vehicles convoy with a car bomb in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday. Condolences showered in on social media from all walks of life and cricket fraternity was no different.

Indian captain Virat Kohli has now announced the cancellation of the RP-SG Indian Sports Honours event. The 30-year-old took to Twitter to announce the news, Kohli said, “The RP-SG Indian Sports Honours has been postponed. At this heavy moment of loss that we all find ourselves in, we would like to cancel this event that was scheduled to take place tomorrow.”


 

Earlier Virat Kohli took to his official Twitter handle to condemn the attack on security personnel in the state. “I'm shocked after hearing about the attack in Pulwama, heartfelt condolences to the martyred soldiers & prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured jawaans,” Virat Kohli Tweeted.

Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, VVS Laxman and Mohammad Kaif also took to Twitter to express their grief and send their condolences to the families of the martyrs. They all condemned what happened in Jammu & Kashmir yesterday.

“Shocked and horrified by what happened #Pulwama. The day we all celebrated love some cowards spread hatred. Thinking about the jawans and their families. India keep them in your prayers,” Rohit Sharma Tweeted.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the sacrifices of our Jawans won’t go in vain and have given free hand to security forces, no one will be spared. India have already ended the most favored nation status for Pakistan. India might also hold the process of talks between India and Pakistan over Kartarpur corridor.
