The bowling mentor of Mumbai Indians, Lasith Malinga has been called back by the Sri Lanka Board of cricket by immediate effect.

The recent development comes as one more disappointment to the Mumbai Indians who have been already performing consistently below the mark this season. Lasith Malinga has been called back to the country leaving the Indian Premier League back.

Srilankan Board of cricket has ordered Malinga to leave Mumbai Indians and the Indian Premier League and play domestic cricket for the country. Board also added that in case Malinga fails to do so, He should not expect to be considered for the national team in future. Notably, Lasith Malinga did not find any buyers this season of the IPL Auctions and had to switch to Mentorship of Mumbai Indians as he has been a key bowler for franchise for many years.

Malinga has said to the board that he can not return to the homeland before IPL gets over. Malinga has not played a single match for Sri Lanka for a long time. The last time he played a match for his country was in September last year. Malinga has not been a part of the Srilankan national team due to fitness issues and it could be the reason he was not bought by any of the IPL franchises.

The chief of Cricket Srilanka Thilanga Sumathipala has said if Malinga wishes to make it to the national team, he will have to start playing the domestic cricket. He further added that we have to play against South Africa and later we have to also participate in the Asia Cup, He should participate in the domestic cricket otherwise the team selectors will not be able to let him play in the national team.

To this Malinga has replied that he will be available to play against South Africa in July but can not come to Srilanka before the IPL ends.
