After winning two back to back Ranji Trophy and Irani Cup titles, Vidarbha captain Faiz Fazal attacked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for not selecting him in the India A squads. Fazal took to his Twitter account to express his disappointment towards the governing body.

Fazal wrote, “Did we win Ranji Trophy and Irani Cup back to back?” Earlier Kerela all-rounder Jalaj Saxena also slammed BCCI for ignoring him during India A selection.

Before 2017-18 edition Vidarbha was just another team in India’s domestic cricket but things started changing for them when Faiz Fazal took charge and led them to their first Ranji Trophy title. Under Fazal’s captaincy, Vidarbha won another title next year. Fazal was the highest run-scorer in 2018-19 season with 912 runs at an average of 70.15. Fazal scored 752 runs at an average of 50.13 with three centuries and a couple of half-centuries in the next season.

Fazal made his international debut in 2016 against Zimbabwe but hasn’t donned the national colour ever since. The only recognised player from Vidarbha is Umesh Yadav, who is a regular in India’s line-up. But even Yadav didn’t get selected in India’s World Cup squad but he was playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2019.
