Nayan Mongia, Ajit Agarkar and Venkatesh Prasad apply for BCCI selector's job

Former India wicket-keeper Nayan Mongia has put in an application for the national selector’s job, BCCI sources said on Saturday.

The former wicket keeper has featured in 44 Tests and 140 ODIs for the men in blue and cumulated 2,714 runs across all formats. He joined forces with former pacers Venkatesh Prasad and Ajit Agarkar who have also applied for the job, BCCI sources said.


Venkatesh Prasad has worked as the bowling coach for the national side in the past. The pacer also played for India in 33 Tests and managed to scalp 96 wickets. He was regarded as a destructive bowler alongside Javagal Srinath.

On the contrary, Ajit Agarkar had featured for the national side in 26 Tests, 191 ODIs and 3 T20Is. He is the third highest wicket taker for India in the limited overs cricket.

Agarkar has 288 wickets to his name in the ODI format. He has also been the chairman of Mumbai’s senior selection committee.

Earlier, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly had stated that the new selection committee will be formed after selecting the Indian team for the ongoing New Zealand tour.

Currently, the selection committee is headed by MSK Prasad and includes Devang Gandhi, Sharandeep Singh, Jatin Paranjpe and Gagan Khoda.
