Windies cricketer Chris Gayle who got unsold in the first day of the auction was finally got sold to Kings XI Punjab in the last moment of the second and final day of the auction. When Chris Gayle's name was announced in last time just before that Virender Sehwag was seen saying something in Preity Zinta's ear. Sehwag that time was talking about Gayle to Punjab's team owner Preity Zinta.

While giving an interview to a tabloid, Virender Sehwag said, 'Nobody was ready to buy Chris Gayle after announcing his name two times, however when third time his name was announced then Punjab on Sehwag's suggestions bought Gayle in 2 crores.'

Now Sehwag on buying Gayle said, "Gayle is a player that is enough to be a part of the team, due to his age and his current performance nobody show their interest in him, but we chose as a backup opener in our team,"

Sehwag further added, "Gayle is a player who can win a match on his own and other than this his brand value will give a new energy to the team. Gayle's presence will give benefit to new generation players to learn a lot. He can be dangerous as an opening batsman,"

The Kings XI Punjab coach said, "This time the team of Punjab is very much strong, one hand we have players like Chris Gayle, Aron Finch, David Miller, Marks Stones, Andrew Try as overseas players, while on the other hand, our Indian players like Yuvraj Singh, Karun Nair, KL Rahul, Manoj Tiwary, R Ashwin and others. "

While asking about the captain of the team, Sehwag said we are still discussing it.
