The first ODI match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was washed out due to rain on September 27. It was a disappointing return of cricket in Pakistan as fans had to leave without seeing a single ball being bowled. Late on Friday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that the rain not only affected the match on Friday but also the second ODI that was scheduled to be held at the same venue on Sunday.

The ICC took to their official twitter handle to share the news and they hilariously wrote, “The second ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at Karachi has been rescheduled from Sunday 29 September to Monday 30 September due to the rain which washed out the first ODI. Have you ever heard of rain so heavy it washes out a game two days away?”

The latest series is an attempt by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to bring international cricket back to Pakistan after 2009 attacks on Sri Lankan team.

Zimbabwe was the first team to tour Pakistan in 2015 after the deadly attacks. Followed by a World XI and West Indies team.

For the current tour, Pakistan has offered head-of-state like security measures for the Sri Lankan team. The second ODI will now be played on Monday, September 30.
