Big Blow to Chennai Super Kings ahead of series opener, this crucial player will miss IPL 2019

Chennai Super Kings fast bowler Lungi Ngidi will miss the upcoming Indian Premier League 2019 season due to injury. The South Africa pacer sustained a Grade II muscle strain during the recent fifth One-Day International against Sri Lanka that will require up to four weeks of rest followed by a rehab programme, according to a statement on the Cricket South Africa website.

“Ngidi will be missed,” KS Viswanathan, CEO, Chennai Super Kings, said. “We are in process of identifying a replacement,” he added.


 

Defending Champion Chennai Super Kings will host Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2019 tournament opener at MA Chidambaram Stadium on March 23.

Chennai Super Kings are the three times champions of the richest T20 tournament in the world - Indian Premier League. The team boasts of many star players including Suresh Raina, Shane Watson and Harbhajan Singh. Veteran Indian cricketer MS Dhoni is the captain of the team and have won as many as five titles for them.

Chennai Super Kings will look to retain the trophy this year as well. They are the only team to have done it in 2011 after winning the trophy in 2010. The core members of the team will remain same as 2018. With few minor changes they will go into the IPL as favorites.
