Former India cricketer Jacob Martin is battling for his life in hospital after he met with an accident in Vadodara, Gujarat. He is on a ventilator after sustaining serious injuries to his lungs and liver.

As per reports on NDTV, Martin’s wife has asked Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for help after which the board has sanctioned ₹ 5 lakh. The Baroda Cricket Association has also sanctioned ₹ 3 lakh.

Sanjay Patel, former Baroda Cricket Association secretary was among the first one to help Jacob’s family. Patel also received assurance from team India coach Ravi Shastri, Zaheer Khan, Irfan Khan, Yusuf Khan and Munaf Patel, who have all came forward to help Martin’s family.

Now, Krunal Pandya, brother of Hardik Pandya has left a blank cheque with Sanjay Patel. “Sir, please fill up whatever is needed, but nothing less than ₹ 1 lakh,” Krunal was quoted by The Telegraph. Recently Hardik was surrounded by controversy and was sent home mid-tour from Australia after he made some sexist comment on a TV show.

Martin made his debut under former captain Sourav Ganguly in September, 1999 and played ten ODIs for India, scoring 158 runs at an average of 22.57.
