Worldwide rights of Shah Rukh Khan – Anushka Sharma’s next sold: At what collections will it be a ‘Hit’

NH Studioz have acquired the worldwide distribution rights of Shah Rukh Khan – Anushka Sharma’s next film, tentatively titled The Ring for a whooping amount of Rs 125 crore.

The shooting of the Imtiaz Ali Film will be wrapped up soon as the makers gear up for an Independence Day 2017 release. Given the rate at which the film is sold to the distributors, it would break even at Rs 150 crore in India whereas emerge a ‘Hit’ at collections above Rs 170 crore.

Worldwide Share of Shah Rukh Khan’s last five releases:

  • Raees: Rs 107 crore
  • Fan: Rs 69 crore
  • Dilwale: Rs 145 crore
  • Happy New Year: Rs 154 crore
  • Chennai Express: 167 crore

The worldwide share of this Shah Rukh Khan film has to be in the range of Dilwale and Happy New Year to be termed as a ‘Hit’ which would happen only with good performance in India and overseas.

The first look poster of The Ring was unveiled by Salman Khan on twitter following which the makers launched a campaign involving the fans to suggest a title for the film. There were strong speculations that the film is titled ‘Rehnuma’, but Ali recently denied the reports and said that the title will be announced soon.

The film releases on August 11.
