Thugs of Hindostan Box Office collection Day 1: Despite puny reviews, Aamir Khan starrer creates history; records highest Bollywood opening ever

Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, and Katrina Kaif starrer, big budget film Thugs of Hindostan surprises everyone with its first day box office collection. The film, despite garnering negative reviews from critic as well as the viewers, creates history by collecting Rs. 52.25 Cr (all languages) on its opening day.

The Boxoffice India's report suggests about the film that it has outgrown previous records set by Salman Khan starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which collected Rs. 39.32 Cr. Thugs has recorded the highest pre-sales of all time for a Hindi film.

The film however has disappointed the viewers and critics.

Giving it 2 stars, News18’s Rohit Vats called it “a solid case of great boast, little roast.”

“Thugs Of Hindostan builds up a larger-than-life narrative and then loses ground. Just when you begin adjusting to one kind of tonality, it changes into another film. Holding a film together for 165-minutes is anyway a daunting task, but with the stellar star cast, it should have been nothing short of a spectacular party. But it isn’t. Director Vijay Krishna Acharya's biggest mistake is not utilising the resources,” he wrote in his film review.

Noted film critic Taran Adarsh called the film "KING-SIZED DISAPPOINTMENT!"

The film was released on November 8, 2018 -- a day after Diwali. Now the attention is on the final collection of the film at the box office.
