Akira Box Office: Decent start for the Sonakshi Sinha film at the ticket window

Sonakshi Sinha's Akira had a decent opening day at the Box Office as the film raked in around Rs 5.15 crore at the ticket window. The film, which has got mixed reviews from all over also has Anurag Kashyap and Konkona Sen in pivotal roles.

The film had a slow start with occupancy close to 20% in the morning shows. However, there was a significant growth in collections in the evening and late night shows. Surprisingly, the film got a lukewarm response at the single screens, which was compensated by the multiplexes in Mumbai and Delhi.

There should be a slight growth in collections on Saturday and Sunday, however the hold on Monday will give an insight about the actual word of mouth. The movie has opened better than other women-centric films like Sarabjit and Happy Bhag Jayegi. However the numbers are slightly below Jai Gangajaal and Neerja.

Directed by AR Murugadoss, the filmshows some good action sequences. Akira totally justifies Sonakshi as both hero and heroine of the fim.
