Rang De Basanti actor Siddharth found himself on the receiving end on social media for his response to a tweet of badminton star Saina Nehwal which was made in connection with PM Narendra Modi's security breach in Punjab's Ferozepur on 5th January.

Some demonstrators clogged up the route and forced PM's cavalcade to spend around 15-20 minutes on a flyover. After the PM's rally in the region was called off because of the lapse in security, a massive row has stirred up since then.

As news of the incident became known, Saina Nehwal tweeted, "No nation can claim itself to be safe if the security of its own PM gets compromised. I condemn, in the strongest words possible, the cowardly attack on PM Modi by anarchists. #BharatStandsWithModi #PMModi."

In response to Nehwal's tweet actor Siddhart wrote, "Subtle cock champion of the world... Thank God we have protectors of India ."

Netizens criticised the actor for his obvious 'sexist' remark on the Olympic medallist. Some even dubbed him 'misogynist' for his use of words and said the comment was not made in good taste.

Take a look at some of the comments:

Earlier, Siddharth was also trolled when he apparently made a reference to Samantha and Naga Chaitanya's divorce in October 2020. The announcement had evoked reactions from people. But it was a tweet from Siddharth that caused the stir online.

“One of the first lessons I learnt from a teacher in school… “Cheaters never prosper." What’s yours?" tweeted Siddharth and many saw this as a dig at Samantha. Later, Siddharth insisted that the tweet was related to something that was going on in his life, adding that it wasn’t the his problem if people misconstrued his words.

The actor is known to voice his thoughts on social media and has often been the target of trolls. However, this hasn't impeded him from expressing what he thinks.
