There has been a lot of speculation about Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees avoiding a box office clash with Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil on 26 January, 2017. In the past, Shah Rukh Khan had mentioned that he has had a word with Rakesh Roshan (who is Kaabil's producer) and requested him to push the date. However, it looks like Roshan is not willing to budge and so the clash seems inevitable. The Kaabil trailer release was done last month.

A source says, "It is true that there was a discussion about changing the release date of Raees but now they have decided to stick to the original release date that is January 26. The film has already been delayed for a few months so they would not want to delay it any further."

There is one more issue that the Raees makers have to deal with. After Karan Johar faced flak for casting Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in his film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and struggled to release his film, there was buzz that producers Ritesh Sidwani, Farhan Akhtar and Shah Rukh Khan might replace Pakistani actress Mahira Khan in their film, though later they denied it. A source says, "There will be no change in the cast. The cast will remain the same as decided by the team. It is not a great idea to shoot the entire film all over again with new actor as it will mean a big financial burden for us."

The films spokesperson confirms that the trailer is expected to release by end of this month but refused to confirm the release date.
