Padmavati: Not Deepika Padukone but this Bollywood actress did the Ghoomar dance before

Bollywood movie 'Padmavti' directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been under lot of controversies since the time the shooting of the movie began. The problems are only increasing in the case of the movie such that the release date of the film which was December 1 has been changed. However, the fans are eagerly waiting for the film to release soon.

A lot of posters have been released already along with two songs which are titled as 'Ghoomar' and 'Ek Dil Ek Jaan'. In the Ghoomar song, the lead actress of the movie, Deepika Padukone, who is playing the character of Queen Padmavati, is seen performing the traditional Ghoomar dance in the film. Deepika, looks spectacular while she is performing the dance of the Rajput community.

While Deepika performs, Maharawal Ratan Singh (played by Shahid Kapoor) and his first wife Queen Nagmati (played by Anupriya Goenka) are seen sitting and enjoying the traditional dance being performed. Well, this is not the first time when this dance form has been performed by any artist on the screen. It has also happened on many Television shows also. However there was one actress who has performed the same dance on big screen earlier and she surely did justice to the song and the dance.

It was none other that Karisma Kapoor who had performed the same dance form in a Shyam Benegal film. However, the difference between Deepika and Karisma is that the former is a queen the film, the later on the other hand is a dance enthusiast who want to be an actor in the movie.

This dance has been performed in the movie Zubeidaa, in which Karisma falls in love with a Maharaja named Vijayendra Singh and she married him. The Maharaja had a first wife named Mandira whose character was performed by the actress Rekha. In the movie, the song comes when Zubeidaa is being welcomed in the new family and seeing the dancers dance she too joins them in the same. But Rekha caught hold of Karisma and asks her not to do that again.
