Director Mohit Suri and producer Ekta Kapoor collaborated for Ek Villain in 2014 and the film turned their first 100 crore film. The film had Sidharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor, and Riteish Deshmukh in the leading roles. The film was appreciated a lot for the path-breaking performance of Riteish Deshmukh as a villain.
Riteish Deshmukh got all love for his performance as a cold-blooded serial killer. Now the director-producer duo is planning a new film in Ek Villain series. They are almost ready with the script and looking forward to having the leading cast. Earlier there were the reports that Aditya Roy Kapur will star in Ek Villain but the reports turned false as Aditya was signed in Mohit Suri's another film Malang.
While Sidharth Malhotra is not interested to do Ek Villain 2 as he is already having Marjaavaan in the same line. Even in Ek Villain, he didn't get so much attention like what Riteish did. So now the makers are considering their another leading male actor Arjun Kapoor. Arjun Kapoor had worked with Ekta and Mohit in Half Girlfriend.
Bollywood Hungama quoted a source saying, “Ekta Kapoor wants to turn Ek Villain into her production house’s Dhoom franchise. The problem here is who will play the formal hero when the villain has the author-backed role?”
Currently, Arjun Kapoor is busy in the post-production of Ashutosh Gowariker's Panipat and also for Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar. Later he will start Ek Villain 2.
