Bollywood actor Neena Gupta has revealed about her parents' marriage and how her mother attempted to commit suicide after her father married for the second time. In her book, Sach Kahun Toh, she also talked about her experience as a child and her father's absence in the house.

The actor has said that Sach Kahun Toh is an honest tell-all book about her life, documenting her life’s highs and lows. The book talks about several milestones of her life, from her pregnancy and single parenting to a successful comeback in the movie industry.

“My father was brave enough to marry my mother for love. But he was also a dutiful son who couldn’t refuse when his father forced him to marry another woman from his community," Zoom TV quoted Neena's autobiography as saying.

She also talked about how her mother was left 'shattered' because of this and wanted to end her life. "This betrayal from my father shattered my mother to the extent that she actually tried to end her life. It took me sometime to realize that it was not ok for fathers to leave after dinner every evening. That fathers didn’t come home in the morning for breakfast and a change of clothes before leaving for the office. That fathers didn’t spend the night with some variation of ‘Seema Aunty’ (that’s what we called his other wife; name changed)," the book said.

Neena Gupta’s mother name was Shakuntala Gupta, a Punjabi woman who got married to a guy from a different caste, as the report. Her father name was Roop Narain Gupta, who was divided between his two families, and had two sons from the second wife.

Earlier, during an Instagram video chat with Kareena Kapoor Khan, who launched Sach Kahun Toh, Neena said she has been writing the book for 20 years and would often thing if people were even interested in knowing about her.

"I would start and wonder, 'What is there to write about my life? Why would people be interested in reading it?' Then the lockdown happened... And I did a lot of thinking about my life and decided to resume writing again. Everything is out of my system now. Things I was hiding for so many years. That's a big relief. I think, maybe after reading the book, even if one person doesn't make the mistake which I did, if they feel 'yeah, we should not do this', it'll be worth it," actor said.

In the meantime, Neena began work for the upcoming movie Goodbye, a week after the Maharashtra government permitted the film and TV industry to restart their activities with Covid norms in place. Among others superstars, the movie also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Rashmika Mandanna.
