Lara Dutta in Azhar to Aishwarya Rai in Jazbaa, 9 actresses who played lawyer on-screen

Actress Lara Dutta is playing a fierce lawyer in Azhar, a biopic on Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin. Emraan Hashmi is bringing the cricketer's character to life on screen.

Even though her character is fictional, Lara says it has been challenging and fun. Her last on-screen appearance was in Fitoor with Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapur.

In Azhar, her character is adamant about proving that the cricketer did have a hand in the match fixing scandal. Sharing some details about Lara's character in the film, director Tony D'Souza said:

"She went through all the legal documents pertaining to the case. We also had regular reading sessions. She really worked very hard for the role. Lara in fact, was so much into the character that sometimes even off the camera she would speak the lawyer's language."

While Lara has already proved her mettle in films like Andaaz, Aan: Men At Work, Masti and Partner amongst others, she has never essayed a character as strong-headed as the one in Azhar.
